The Power of A Praying Wife

It is unbelievable how reading a little ca scripture n make big difference in our lives. a

For me it’s simple… I am a huge believer in God because I can feel his work in my life. Whem I close my eyes and think of all the genuine beautiful souls, I know there is a power bigger than I can explain.

When I am weak and stray, I find myself, battling demons.

Lately, I picked up my copy of “A Power of a Praying Wife”, by Stormie Omartian, and am following along with the guide book as well.

The first time I attempted to read it, I was bitter and not open to receiving God’s word. I was wrapped up in feeling hurt, misunderstood and proudful.

This time, I am reading it with an open heart and truly praying for my husband.

After just reading chapter one, I have noticed a positive change in me, that is fueling my marriage.

My prayer today: “Dear Lord, I pray to be the wife you desire for me to be, for my husband. Please help me become the best version of myself and to see him with appreciation, love and respect as the head of my house. I ask all this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.”

My Father’s Battle with Cancer

It has been a while since I posted an update about my father. As I logged into his care site today, I realized that my father-in-law, whom would post wishes of “well-being” for my father, is no longer with us. Rex Conner will always be with us and in our prayers.
My reason for not providing an update is because the therapy my father was on (Bevacizumab), had been controlling his cancer, until a few weeks ago.
Two weeks ago, he began having problems breathing and began having chest & back pain. Naively, we thought it was the flu. It turns out that he has Pleural Effusion from the cancer irritating his lungs. It was then, that x-rays showed that his cancer is progressing in his lungs, lymph nodes, liver and heart. His doctor made the determination to switch his therapy to Sorafenib.
Two days later, he began having pain on his left thigh, which prevented him from putting his full weight on his leg. This, prompted the doctor to request full x-rays. The previous full body x-rays, two months ago, showed that the cancer hadn’t spread to his bones.
This week, it was determined that the cancer has spread to his bone (left Iliac bone). Additionally, he had lost 10 pounds in one week, in addition to the 10 he had lost in the previous weeks.
In a matter of 2-3 weeks, my father is unable to walk without the assistance of a cane and without taking a break after a few steps, to catch his breath. He was saddened to hear that he should no longer lift weights or head to the gym, until he regains strength and the new treatment begins to work.
The current plan is for my father to rest, eat every two hours, and take his pain relief, in order for him to have the strength needed for his new chemo treatment.
He is optimistic about this treatment and 100% committed to fighting.
He said “at least I will have plenty of time to watch the Texans make it to the Superbowl”.
Our family would greatly appreciate your prayers for my father’s healing. Oh, and I am selfishly hoping that the Texans make it to the Superbowl!

Fifty Shades of Gray – My Review

I am sure everyone has heard of 50 Shades of Grey (by E.L. James) by now… Many of my friends had read it before I did, and recommended it as a “must read”. Here is my take on the trilogy:

I found the 50 Shades series to be an interesting, exciting read for adult women, that don’t mind reading semi-romantic, erotica books. Why?!?! It’s simple… The series took me through an exciting journey of an encounter between two people, which started as an erotic adventure, that later turned into a romantic fairy tale.

Ana is a young, beautiful, inexperiened, some-what awkward college student. Christian Grey is a strinking, powerful, successful, confident, yet troubled entrepreneur. The setting seems almost predictable, but what sets the trilogy apart from other books is the series of erotic excitement that arises out of the events within the books. Yes, some of the verbiage is repetitive, however, I overlooked that, as I was interested in finding out what happened next.

E. L. James does a great job of creating an interesting protagonist, Christian Grey. He is a fierce young man that takes charge, makes decisions, creates rules and pays the bill. The reason for his intensity is all the result of his sad, unfortunate past. When I was finished reading the series, I realized that this man is appealing because he is secure, fierce, alluring, and most importantly, fictional. Yes, I said it… He is not real.

Now for a real, positive, character building quality that the series brought about… After finishing the 3 books, I found a new appreciation for classical music and orchestras. I would have never thought I would find such interest in symphonies.

I open-mindedly read the series and would recommend it only to adults that would read romance/ erotic fictional books. I too, look forward to the movie.

Christmas Magic

Our Elf came in today. Our boys named him “Sprinkle”. Santa sent him because my oldest had stopped believing in Santa because of what he had been told.

The truth is that after he asked us several times, we finally caved in and agreed with him. I felt so horrible because his face had such sadness but he didn’t cry.

“The Elf on The Shelf” was a blessing to our family because it helped him see that magic only happens when you believe it in your heart.

This reaffirmed his belief in Santa. I told him that children that say they don’t believe in Santa, won’t ever recieve Santa’s presents.
